Book Club
Everyone welcome—come join us after church as we discuss the book that has been chosen for that month. We meet after the church service (bring a lunch) for approximately 1 ½ hours.
Meetings are planned for the following dates in 2017:
Jan 22 - The Nine Lives of Charlotte Taylor, by Sally Armstrong
The novel is based on handed-down pieces of family folklore and government documents. Using a blend of fact and fiction, Charlotte Taylor’s great-great-great-granddaughter, Sally Armstrong, reclaims the life of a dauntless and unusual woman.
Feb 19 - The Children Act, by Ian McEwan
The story involves a British High Family Court judge, known for her fierce intelligence, exactitude and sensitivity. For religious reasons, a 17-year-old boy refuses life-saving medical treatment and his devout parents agree. When a judge visits him in the hospital, the encounter stirs long-buried feelings in her and powerful emotions in the boy. Her judgment has momentous consequences for them both.
March 19 - The Givenness of things, by Marilynne Robinson
A sense of wonder pervades these powerful essays by the author of such beloved novels as Gilead and Lila.
April 23 - The Heroes Walk, by Anita Rau Badame

May 28 - My Name is Lucy Barton, by Elizabeth Strout
Pulitzer prize-winning author shows how a simple hospital visit triggers the powerful story of Lucy and her mother.
