What is Worship Arts

Parkdale United Church has a thriving arts community, and we express our worship in several ways. The various groups are active from just after the Labour Day weekend to the end of June, with occasional events during the summer.

The Choir

The Choir provides music leadership three Sunday mornings a month, and this takes the form of four-part anthems and occasional special choral presentations.

Rehearsals are Thursday evenings at 7:00 and Sunday mornings at 9:30. Pieces are rehearsed week by week, so a long term commitment is not required to participate.

Dalesong is Parkdale United Church’s contemporary praise group, providing music leadership one Sunday morning a month. Singers and instrumentalists are always welcome.

Rehearsals are Thursday evenings at 8:00, but not always each week, so be sure to call the office (613) 728-8656 before coming out.

Soloists and Groups

Do you like to sing or play an instrument? Maybe you know someone who does. Come and join us! Maybe you play the guitar, drums or keyboards in a garage band. Maybe you sang in a group when you were younger or even took accordion lessons. This is your opportunity to shine.

Perhaps you’ve always wanted to participate in the musical life at Parkdale but were not sure how you could contribute. You may even have felt that you didn’t have the time to devote. Don’t worry about that. We can help.

The Parkdale Orchestra

The Parkdale United Church Orchestra is Ottawa’s longest established community symphony orchestra. The orchestra is made up of amateur musicians united by a desire to perform some of the western world’s greatest classical and contemporary music. We are blessed to have them join us for Sunday services at least twice a year.

Sacred Dance

We embrace a rich diversity of dance styles, cultures, spiritual traditions and abilities, and no previous experience is necessary.

The Drama group shares the teachings of Jesus in a creative way, presenting at least two skits a year as part of a Sunday worship service. We also welcome those interested in helping to build sets.
